So as the title suggests, here is a little info about me.
Originally this Blog was set up to keep a record of my sewing adventures. In 2014 my love of sewing was re-kindled when I decided to get married: As it was to be an autumn wedding, it had to be tweed waistcoats. The problem was the cost! They were so expensive, so off to the local fabric shop for the fabric and a pattern and here are all 6 of them. That got me sewing again!
Being raised by my Nan, it was inevitable that I would find a craft to try. She was a real ‘maker’; in fact she would Sew, Knit, Crochet and all other manner of crafts. She was a ‘home’ sewer for a local factory and hand-stitched leather gloves for them. I was drawn to sewing (I think it was my Nan’s lovely Singer machine that got me hooked) and learnt from a very young age.
I gave up my teaching career back in 2015 to become a stay-at-home dad. Amazingly the blog has grown and grown and so has my sewing. Rarely a day passes when I don’t spend time in my sewing room and I’ve generally got several things on the go. I especially love making menswear and trying my hand at a bit of tailoring.
Back in 2016 I was lucky enough to be a contestant on the BBC show ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’. Although I didn’t progress as far as I hoped, I can certainly say it was an experience! During December of 2017 I took part in Kirsties Handmade Christmas on Channel 4. Since 2019 I have become a guest designer on the Sewing Quarter TV channel which is great fun.
I am still a stay-at-home dad but now have 3 children! The sewing continues!
I hope you enjoy my blog and that you may find some of the posts useful.
